Call for nominations for the CSIOP executive team positions!

Dear CSIOP members,

We have some exciting opportunities for joining the CSIOP executive team! We are seeking nominations (self-nominations are highly encouraged!) for the following three positions on the executive team starting in June 2024 (after our Annual General Meeting at the CPA convention):

1.     Student representative (a 2-year role)

2.     Membership coordinator (a 2-year role)

3.     Chair-Elect (this is a 3-year role starting with Chair-Elect in Year 1, moving to the Chair position in Year 2, and finally Past Chair in Year 3)

How to submit a nomination & deadline

To express your interest and nominate yourself or a colleague, please email me at chair@csiop-scpio.ca.

The deadline for the submission of nominations is May 10, 2024.

Other things to note:

· Executive team members need to be CPA members (not necessary at the nomination stage but will be necessary for taking on the role).

· If there is more than one nomination for any role, we will be holding an election.

Student Representative

  • SR is a two-year role.

  • SR will participate in the management of the Society as a full member of the Executive Committee.

  • SR represents the interest of the Student members to the Society and the Executive Committee.

  • SR maintains communication with the Student members on Society matters.

  • SR represents the Student members of the Society to other student organizations pursuing goals similar to or consistent with those of the Society.

Membership Coordinator

  • MC is a two-year role.

  • MC is responsible for increasing the membership base of CSIOP and increasing member engagement.

  • MC works in concert with the CSIOP Student Representative to develop strategies for increasing the number of CSIOP student members,

  • MC works in concert with the CSIOP newsletter editor to update the number of members for each issue of the newsletter,

  • Each incoming MC will develop a strategic plan that delineates specific goals and objectives for the two-year tenure,

  • Each MC will produce a report on MC activities (with specific reference to the plan) that will be provided to the CSIOP Executive. This plan will be updated/changed depending upon progress and any changing circumstances on an ongoing basis.

  • MC is responsible for submitting a report for the AGM that provides a brief synopsis of activities and future initiatives.

Chair-Elect

  • This is a 3-year role consisting of serving one year as a chair-elect, one year as a chair, and one year as a past-chair.

Chair-Elect (year 1)

  • Carry out the duties assigned by the Chair.

    Chair (year 2)

  • Preside at all meetings of the Membership and Executive Committee; ensure all policies set by Members are implemented; ensure, as far as possible, that all Officers and Committees perform their respective duties.

  • Maintain communication with Members through a publication to all members on a quarterly basis

  • Maintain communication with the Canadian Psychological Association and the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology on behalf of the Membership, as well as other organizations who pursue goals similar to that of the Society.

  • Provide an annual report to Members and to the CPA Committee on Sections; represent the Society to the Committee on Sections of the Canadian Psychological Association.

  • Represent and promote the purpose of the Society to the community at large; take actions of an emergency nature for the benefit of the Society when, in the Chair's judgment, time and circumstances do not permit contacting all members of the Executive Committee before action is needed. The Chair shall report such action to the Executive Committee as soon as possible.

The Past-Chair (year 3)

  • Carry out the duties assigned by the Chair.

  • Fulfill the duties of the Chair in case of incapacity or absence of the Chair.

  • oordinate nominations, adjudication, and distribution of CSIOP (e.g., Distinguished Contribution to Canadian I/O Psychology, RHR Kendall-Evans), conference-specific (e.g., poster awards), and CPA (e.g., CPA Fellow nominations, President's New Research Award) awards. This includes finding adjudicators and judges for the CSIOP Awards, and assisting nominees.
